What is an Abortion?

There are several different types of abortions. The type of abortion available to you depends on how far along you are. CDC recommends a woman be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia prior to an abortion to reduce the risk of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). Be informed. Call Oasis Medical for an appointment today.

One of the best choices you can make when faced with an unplanned pregnancy is the choice to discuss your options in a caring, private, and non-judgmental setting. Oasis Medical has trained staff who are experienced in serving those facing the challenges pregnancy can bring.

Don’t allow anyone to rush you in the decision-making process. We are here to empower you with evidenced-based abortion education that can help in your decision.

A good choice takes time. Allow yourself time to objectively learn the facts and weigh your options at a place that doesn’t profit financially from your decision.

Emergency Contraception

As with any new medication, before using Emergency Contraceptive (EC) it is important to consult a medical professional who can explain what it is and how it affects your body.

EC is taken after having unprotected sex or after birth control failure. Some side effects may include:
A lighter, heavier, early, or late period
Nausea
Lower abdominal cramping
Tiredness
Headache
Dizziness
Breast tenderness
Vomiting
Increased risk for ectopic pregnancy *
*If you should experience severe abdominal pain, you may have an ectopic pregnancy (outside the uterus) and should get immediate medical attention.

EC should not be used as a regular form of birth control. It is also important to remember EC does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

EC (such a Plan B One-Step or Ella) should not be confused with a medical abortion (abortion pill, Mifeprex/RU486).

If you have missed a period, schedule an appointment with Oasis Medical for pregnancy testing free of charge.

Abortion Pill Reversal

If you have taken the “abortion pill” (Mifepristone, Mifeprex or RU486) but wish to reverse the effects, there is an effective process to do so. Studies have shown administering progesterone within a certain time frame can reverse effects of the abortion pill. Call (877) 558-0333 for more information.

Pregnancy Symptons

Symptoms of pregnancy vary for each woman and even along with each pregnancy. Some of the most common signs of pregnancy may include:

Missed period
Nausea
Vomiting
Swollen or tender breasts
Fatigue
Frequent urination
Backaches
Headaches
Food cravings or food aversions
Mood swings

Experiencing some/all of these symptoms does not necessarily indicate you are pregnant. Only a physician can diagnose a pregnancy. The only 100% way to know for sure if you are pregnant with a viable intrauterine pregnancy is an ultrasound exam. Oasis Medical offers ultrasound confirmation of pregnancy at no charge.

A missed period can also be caused by any of the following:

Pending menstruation
Excessive weight gain/loss
Fatigue or exhaustion
New workout regimen
Hormonal imbalance
Tension or stress
Change in birth control usage
Various illnesses
Breastfeeding

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

STD vs STI: A commonly used term is STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease), but not all infections lead to disease. Although used interchangeably STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and STD differ. Infection can be present in the body without symptoms or causing disease.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are infections transmitted from person to person during vaginal, anal, and/or oral sex and sometimes even through skin-to-skin contact. Many times you can have an STI and not have symptoms. An undiagnosed STI can lead to reproductive health complications.

Today 25% of Americans have an incurable sexually transmitted disease. Call Oasis Medical for STI testing today.
